Puttu is a kerala cuisine which is an unavoidable breakfast dish for every malayalee . The basic puttu is prepared by using rice flour & grated coconut  & goes well with kadala curry (chana) as a side dish. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ Here we came with a unique version of puttu , yes oats banana puttu . Instead of rice flour we are using oats & also some chopped bananas too. This is a simple & easy recipe which can be done in minutes . There is no much complicated ingredients or procedures .The only thing which should be taken care of ,for the beginners is to make sure that the mixture should be like bread crumbs consistency. Do not add lot of water that ends up in being a form of dough . This is really a healthy breakfast option as we are steaming oats along with bananas. This oats banana puttu doesn't need any side dish . So this healthy puttu is good for weight watchers. Puttu kutti ( puttu maker which is a steel vessel) is used to make these delicious dish. But i have used chiratta puttu maker here which is made up of coconut shells that adds good aroma to the puttu. It is easily available in our locality. But outside kerala , u will get  chiratta putt maker made up of steel in indian stores. ๐Ÿ˜€

Oats Banana Puttu

Ingredients
************

1) Oats -1 cup
2) Bananas - 2 chopped
3) Grated Coconut - 1/2 cups
4) Salt - 1/2 spoon
5) Water - as required

Method

 In a large bowl, put oats & add little salt for taste.Sprinkle water on the mixture .(Same method as  rice puttu).Mix thoroughly & keep it aside . Now in a putt kutti ( vessel used to make puttu) add some grated coconut , add some chopped bananas , then the oats mix , again some chopped bananas & grated coconut and put it in steam for 10 minutes. Yummy oats banana puttu is ready to serve!!!  You can also use chopped dates instead of banana . ( I have used chiratta putt maker which is made up of coconut shell ).
